Great Product, But Could Be Better Still - Pink Yoga Mat Critique

by Owen Peterson

So, I am putting my old cheaper Danskin mat over the Manduka mat to hold my poses. I have been told the Manduka mat will not be slippery when broken in so I will amend this review in time. Though the cost makes one pause before hitting the order button it simply blows you away once you start using it. Those who do ashtanga will enjoy the stability of the mat. Once you get it you'll know what I'm talking about. It's thick unlike every other mat out there.

The Black Mat is the only one that works. It grips perfectly and I don't even need the towel under my hands. I practice 3-4x/week when I'm on a roll, and I can't imagine using a thinner, cheaper mat. Totally worth the price if you want to get serious about your practice. I am very happy with this mat. It is thick enough to use alone. As for me, I think I'll try the Drishti next. My husband and I both do the P90X workouts and I have to say for all of you out there, this is the BEST mat we've found.

I love this mat and would buy it again in a heartbeat but I won't need to 'cause this thing will still be around after I'm long gone! A yoga instructor I work with raves about Manduka and - after two years of ignoring her - I finally bought one.

Version, I had a discount so I'd save money. I didn't like it very much; it slid around more (both on hard wood floors and carpet). I find my old mats to be a bit spongy and soft now. But, again, everyone has their own preferences.

I am looking forward to years of yoga. This size is the best, less weight, thick enough for the POWER 90 and P90X training.

The 71" length is perfect for me and I am six feet tall. Yes, it is heavier than other mats but I see that as a positive as it is more substantial than regular mats.

In the meantime, I am practicing on another mat because I could no longer take compromising my practice. When I use the mat, I actually lay a strap on the top of the mat so I have something to grip and ground down into.

It will last forever and is well worth the money! It's ideal for Ashtangis. But, with those products, I always had problems with buckling and the mat becoming slick once I started sweating. I am very glad that I stepped-up and bought this mat.
