Works Fantastic - Jute Yoga Mat Review

by Mia Hernadez

I tried everything I read and heard about trying to "break in" a mat and to make it stop being slippery but nothing worked on this mat! Extremely disappointed I am just glad that I was able to return it and get a refund before I broke or cracked a bone or something! It is on the heavy side if you are wishing to take it somewhere. I have been experiencing LOTS of slipping on my mat....to the point where I was ready to exchange my mat. Working out" I've never had a problem with slipping and it's super easy to clean/dry. My mat is horrible, I paid $98 and all I do is slide all over the place! I cannot hold a pose nor do I feel comfortable holding a pose because my hands slide and my feet slide.

After about five or six yoga classes, it finally wore off. Still slippery when it gets really sweaty but way better than any other mat I've ever used.

It provides good support, even when getting sweaty. The Manduka black mat offers the most secure footing of any mat I have used; the enhanced stability allows one to concentrate on the pose and not on keeping the feet from slipping. This mat is sturdy enough to last a long time while taking a lot of abuse: Ashtanga brings on a good deal of sweat, and the vinyasa between each pose consists of jumping back, rolling over your toes to upward dog, and back over them to downward dog and hopping back to seated. I've tried this on cheap, thin mats and find that it hurts my toes, and the thinner mats slide around. This mat appears to be awesome, and it is, except it is extremely slippery when wet. I sweat like a spring in a rain storm, and after minute five of my yoga the mat becomes a liability and even dangerous to use.

I am enjoying this mat tremendously! It is very supportive throughout the entire yoga class. This mat is stable, it doesn't stretch or move beneath you while you are moving through vinyasa. Even without a Mysore rug, you would really have to drop a large amount of sweat for this mat to become too slippery to use.

This is a luxury mat that is absolutely awesome to use. This mat offers enough cushion for balance security and allows you to relax and actually breathe into poses instead of constant rearranging yourself and hating being in class.

This is the best yoga mat that you could ever buy and is well worth the money. I've tried many, and none give the traction, support and cushioning that you will get with the Manduka Pro. I have a really bad back and I need to do a lot of stretching every single morning and every night before I go to bed. I have tried lots of cheaper mats and none of them were really something I would recommend to someone. I could not even do the Down Dog without slipping from my hands n feet. I ended up using the generic mats that the club provides. I have tried using this mat several times.

Roughly the thickness of two average mats together, this one will help cushion all those boney parts and not bunch up the way two mats together always seem to do. It's not only thicker, it's denser to boot.
